I have a dumb question. Did you read them in Japanese this time? Also, I found your comment that you became a less jaded and more open minded adult mind boggling! Does such a person exist? Great
I feel like this happened to me too! I was very cynical as a young person, but have become more willing to just give myself over to enjoyment as I get older.
Nah that’s a great question, Mike. I should have clarified. Every manga I’ve read in the past several years has been in Japanese. That may have added to my enjoyment, but I’m not sure!
As for becoming less jaded… Edward basically nailed it in his comment. I care less about what people think about my preferences these days, which has made me happier and more open minded overall. At least I hope so. Feels that way to me.
I encourage you to at least take a mini-leap! JoJo is actually one of the ones I started this year, and as unfashionable as this is to say, I just… don’t get it, lol. Berserk was on my to-read list, but then Miura passed away, and they decided to carry on publishing the manga without him. That gave me pause. Also, Berserk has some real heavy themes. But a lot of people I love swear by it! One of these days…

You're always testing the waters to see what's good, and I appreciate that.
You forgot to add "What's Michael?" to the list ;)
Man, this is great. Matches very much who I was and who I felt I needed to be (and what I needed to like) when I was younger.
Gonna give some of these manga a go. I've never been a comic book person but I'm always looking for something to love!
Man, awesome. That’s the best response I could imagine to a post like this one. Let me know if you end up digging any of them (or if you don’t!).
The "Before" description here matches me to a T. I've been seriously considering getting into either Berserk or Jojo. Might have to take the leap?..
