"I think there’s an artistry to depicting the mundane and the merely pleasant." Weirdly, this reminds me of the scene from COBRA (yes, the Stallone movie), where we simply watch the main character eat a slice of pizza in his own unique way. As much fun as it was to watch that film for its action, it was that small moment with Stallone cutting himself a slice of pizza that resonated with me most.
That's an awesome pull, Lucas. I just checked, and Stallone apparently did not direct COBRA. But he did direct Rocky IV, which contains my favourite part of the whole Rocky saga, where Rocky tells the robot that if the robot wants to do him a favour, he should go and get him a beer. Even in Stallone movies, it's really those quiet little moments that resonate the most.
I agree with your sentiment of "calm". I much prefer that to the hustle and bustle (and yes, sometimes violence) that so many people seem to prefer. Give me a good book and a quiet place, and I'm quite happy.
Really enjoyed your thoughts on what you’ve enjoyed and what you hope for the year ahead. I haven’t seen I Love Movies but I’m very glad it’s on my radar now. Like you, I was 17ish in a suburban Ontario town. This feels too close to home not to watch.

Yes! Taegan, that’s definitely a movie I’d recommend for you specifically. I think you’d appreciate it for sure.
